Swachh Bharat

Objectives:-

The objectives are as follows:

1. Eliminate open defecation,

2. Conversion of insanitary toilets to pour flush toilets,

3. Eradication of manual scavenging,

4. 100% collection and scientific processing/disposal reuse/recycle of Municipal Solid Waste,

5. To bring about a behavioral change in people regarding healthy sanitation practices,

6. Generate awareness among the citizens about sanitation and its linkages with public health.

7. Strengthening of urban local bodies to design, execute and operate systems,

8. To create enabling environment for private sector participation in Capital Expenditure and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) costs.

Rashtriya Vayoshree Yojana

Objectives:-

  • ‘Scheme for providing Physical Aids and Assisted-living Devices for Senior citizens belonging to BPL category’

Salient Features:-

  • The Scheme aims at providing Senior Citizens, belonging to BPL category and suffering from any of the age related disability/infirmity viz. Low vision, Hearing impairment, Loss of teeth and Locomotor disability, with such assisted-living devices which can restore near normalcy in their bodily functions, overcoming the disability/infirmity manifested.

Varishtha Pension Bima Yojana

Objectives:-

  • It is a part of Government’s commitment for financial inclusion and social security.

Salient Features:-

1. The scheme will provide an assured pension based on a guaranteed rate of return of 8% per annum for ten years, with an option to opt for pension on a monthly / quarterly / halfyearly and annual basis.

2. The differential return, i.e., the difference between the return generated by LIC and the assured return of 8% per annum would be borne by Government of India as subsidy on an annual basis.

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana

  • The Vision of DDU-GKY is to “Transform rural poor youth into an economically independent and globally relevant workforce”. It aims to target youth, under the age group of 15–35 years. DDU-GKY is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), tasked with the dual objectives of adding diversity to the incomes of rural poor families and cater to the career aspirations of rural youth

National Skill Development Mission

Objectives:-

  • NSDM will provide a strong institutional framework at the Centre and States for implementation of skilling activities in the country.

Salient Features:-

The Mission will have a three-tiered, high powered decision making structure:

1. At its apex, the Mission’s Governing Council, chaired by the Prime Minister, will provide overall guidance and policy direction.

2. The Steering Committee, chaired by Minister in Charge of Skill Development, will review the Mission’s activities in line with the direction set by the Governing Council.

3. The Mission Directorate, with Secretary, Skill Development as Mission Director, will ensure implementation, coordination and convergence of skilling activities across Central Ministries/Departments and State Governments.

Digital India

DigiShala

Objectives:-

To promote cashless transactions

Salient Features:-

  1. DigiShala is dedicated 24*7 and 365 days free-to-air TV channel to inform citizens about digital payment ecosystem, benefits and processes.
  2. It is a satellite channel managed by Doordarshan (DD). It will be broadcasted nationally on DD Free Dish DTH service.
  3. It will be available through GSAT15 (DD Direct DTH), 93.5 degree East, Receive frequency: 11590 Mhz. Through it, citizens will be informed and educated about various digital payment options through step by step demos of digital payments using e-wallets, UPI, USSD, Aadhaar-enabled payment systems and cards.

Himayat

Objectives:-

Aims to train youths from both rural and urban areas of J&K in various job-intensive vocational courses over the next three years

Salient Features:-

  1. Himayat is a placement linked skill development initiative for training and placement of 1 lakh youths from J&K in next 5 years.
  2. Youths enrolled for this scheme will be given training for six-months, nine-months and one year job-oriented courses.
  3. They will be trained in and outside the state.
  4. A provision has been also kept for foreign placements as well
  5. The scheme is part of the Skill Empowerment and Employment scheme of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Nirbhaya Fund

Salient Features:-

  1. Nirbhaya Fund is an Indian rupee 10 billion corpus announced by Government of India in its 2013 Union Budget.
  2. According to the then Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, this fund is expected to support initiatives by the government and NGOs working towards protecting the dignity and ensuring safety of women in India.
  3. Nirbhaya (fearless) was the pseudonym given to the 2012 Delhi gang rape victim to hide her actual identity.

Integrated Child Development Scheme

Objectives:-

  1. To prevent and reduce young child under-nutrition (% underweight children 0- 3 years) by 10 percentage points,
  2. Enhance early development and learning outcomes in all children 0-6 years of age,
  3. improve care and nutrition of girls and women and reduce anaemia prevalence in young children, girls and women by one fifth by the end of 12th five year plan.

Salient Features:-

  1. It is a centrally sponsored scheme
  2. The engagement of the anganwadi worker and helper from the same village
  3. It is a universal and self-selecting scheme i.e. anyone can visit to the Aanganwadi centre and enroll these services.
  4. Package of six services i.e.
  • SNP – supplementary nutrition programme
  • Pre-school education
  • Health and nutrition education,
  • Immunization,
  • Health check up and
  • Referral services to the beneficiaries AEC-cum-crèche, AWC-cum counselor.

Mahila Police Volunteer

Salient Features:-

  1. It envisages creation of a link between the police authorities and the local communities in villages through police volunteers who will be women specially trained for this purpose.
  2. Under this scheme it is expected to have at least one such volunteer in every village whose primary job will be to keep an eye on situations where women in the village are harassed or their rights and entitlements are denied or their development is prevented. Joint initiative b/w Min. of WCD and Home Min.

Swadhar Grehs

Mahila Shakti Kendra

  1. Mahila Shakti Kendras will converge all Govt. Schemes for women at National, State, District and Block level Skill Development, Employment, Digital Literacy, Health and Nutrition.
  2. Through this scheme, government plans to reach 115 most backward districts in the country with 920 Mahila Shakti Kendra.

Sabla

  1. Enable the adolescent girls for self development and empowerment
  2. Improve their nutrition and health status.
  3. Promote awareness about health, hygiene, nutrition, adolescent reproductive and sexual health (ARSH) and family and child care.

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana

Salient Features:-

  1. (Minor) bank account for girl child below the age of 10.
  2. She can withdraw 50% of the money after reaching age of 18 e.g. for higher education. 18 years deadline will also help preventing child-marriages.
  3. For initial account opening, minimum deposit Rs.1000 required. Later, any amount in multiple of 100 can be deposited, but maximum Rs. 1.5 lakh per year.
  4. Interest rate: 9.1% compounded annually.

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao

Nodal Ministry:-It is a tri-ministerial effort of Ministries of Women and Child Development, Health & Family Welfare and Human Resource Development.

Salient Features:-

  1. Prevent Female infanticide
  2. Ensure Every Girl Child is Protected
  3. Ensure every Girl Child is educated
  4. Enforcement of PC & PNDT Act, nation-wide awareness and advocacy campaign and multi-sectoral action in select 100 districts (low on Child Sex Ratio) in the first phase.
  5. Under this scheme there is a strong emphasis on mindset change through training, sensitization, awareness raising and community mobilization on ground.

e-samvaad Portal

  1. It is a platform for NGOs and civil society to interact with the Ministry of Women and Child Development(MWCD) by providing their feedback, suggestions, put up grievances, share best practices etc.

PROGRAM TO TRAIN ELECTED WOMEN REPRESENTATIVES OF PANCHAYATI RAJ INSTITUTIONS

  1. The program aimed at capacity building of EWRs is being organized by National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) of the MoWCD.
  2. It is the first ever initiative which will train approximately twenty thousand EWRs covering nearly 50 EWRs from each district (by March, 2018) who will go out and administer the villages professionally.
  3. It will help in creating model villages, ensure their effective participation in governance process and help preparing women as political leaders of the future.

Support to Training and Employment Programme for Women (STEP)

Rashtriya Mahila Kosh

Salient Features:-

  1. RMK is a national credit fund for women under the aegis of the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
  2. It was established in 1993 for socio-economic empowerment of women.
  3. It aims to provide financial services with backward and forward linkages for women in the unorganized sector through Intermediary Micro Finance Organizations (IMOs) and Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) and to augment their capacities through multi-pronged efforts.
  4. RMK also extends micro-credit to the women in the informal sector through a client friendly, without collateral and in a hassle-free manner for income generation activities.

One Stop centre scheme

Objectives:-

  1. To provide integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence, both in private and public spaces under one roof.
  2. To facilitate immediate, emergency and non-emergency access to a range of support under one roof to fight against any forms of violence against women.

Salient Features:-

  1. These centres will provide immediate access to a range of services including medical, legal, psychological and counselling support to the victims.
  2. The OSC will support all women including girls below 18 years of age affected by violence ,also for girls below 18 years of age, institutions and authorities established under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000 and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 will be linked with the OSC.
  3. In addition to this, a single uniform number -181 will provide 24-hour emergency response to all women affected by violence, through referral (linking with appropriate authorities such as Police, OSC or hospital); funding thru’ Nirbhaya fund.

Swachh Swasth Sarvatra

Objectives:-

  • To achieve better health outcomes through improved sanitation and increased awareness and healthy lifestyles.

Salient Features:-

  1. ‘SwasthBaccheSwasth Bharat’ are pictoral books prepared by Central Health Education Bureau (CHEB).
  2. Health messages shall be brought out that will educate the children and youth about healthy living habits and activities.
  3. The Ministry has distributed these books on healthy living across schools in India.

Janani Suraksha Yojana(JSY)

Objectives:-

  • It is being implemented with the objective of reducing maternal and neonatal mortality by promoting institutional delivery among poor pregnant women.

Salient Features:-

  1. It is a 100% centrally sponsored scheme it integrates cash assistance with delivery and post-delivery care. The success of the scheme would be determined by the increase in institutional delivery among the poor families
  2. The women who deliver in Government hospitals, health centres or even in accredited private hospitals are eligible for the cash assistance, if she is above 19 years

Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram(JSSK)

Objectives:-

  • to provide better health facilities for pregnant women and sick neonates and eliminating “out-of-pocket” expenses.

Salient Features:-

  1. Under this scheme, pregnant women are entitled for free drugs and consumables, free diagnostics, free blood whenever required, and free diet up to 3 days for normal delivery and 7 days for C-section
  2. This initiative also provides for free transport from home to institution, between facilities in case of a referral and drop back home
  3. Similar entitlements have been put in place for all sick new borns accessing public health institutions for treatment till 30 days after birth.

MAA-Mother’s Absolute Affection

Objectives:-

  • A nationwide programme launched in an attempt to bring undiluted focus on promotion of breastfeeding and provision of counselling services for supporting breastfeeding through health systems.

Salient Features:-

  1. The programme has been named ‘MAA’ to signify the support a lactating mother requires from family members and at health facilities to breastfeed successfully.
  2. The chief components of the MAA Programme are Community awareness generation, Strengthening inter personal communication through ASHA, Skilled support for breastfeeding at delivery points in public health facilities, and monitoring and award/recognition.

Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram(RBSK)

Salient Features:-

  • Under this, support is being provided to States/UTs for Child Health Screening and Early Intervention Services through early detection and early management of common health conditions classified into 4 Ds i.e Defects at birth, Diseases, Deficiencies, Development delays including disability. Treatment including surgeries at tertiary level is free of cost under this initiative

Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram

  • This initiative goes beyond addressing sexual and reproductive health and introduces focus on nutrition, sexual & reproductive health, injuries and violence (including gender based violence), non-communicable diseases, mental health and substance misuse

Ayushman Bharat Scheme

Salient Features:-

  • National Health Protection Scheme will be launched to cover 10 crore poor and vulnerable families. Under this, up to Rs 5 lakh will be provided to each family per year in secondary and tertiary care institutions. This scheme will have 50 crore beneficiaries. So far under the National Health Insurance Scheme, insurance cover of Rs 30,000 was available only. This is a big increase in this regard.

RASHTRIYA AROGYA NIDHI (RAN)

Salient Features:-

  • Financial assistance to patients, living below poverty line and who are suffering from major life threatening diseases, to receive medical treatment at any of the super speciality Hospitals/Institutes or other Government hospitals.

Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY)

Objectives:-

  • The primary objective of PMSSY is to correct the region imbalances in availability of affordable/reliable tertiary level healthcare in the country in general, and, to augment facilities for quality medical education in under-served or backward States, in particular.

Salient Features:-

  1. The PMSSY project was to be implemented across the country by the centre for which two major components of implementation was decided.• The first was to set up bigger medical institutions like that of AIIMS located in New Delhi. A total of six such AIIMS like medical units were brought up in the country spread across various regions.
  2. The second component of the PMSSY scheme was to improve and upgrade all the medical colleges and institutions.There were a total of 13 such medical colleges spread across the country which needed up gradation and introduction to improved medical facilities and technologies. The PMSSY scheme will be implemented in three work phases.

Indradanush scheme

Objectives:-

  • It aims to immunize all children under the age of 2 years, as well as all pregnant women, against seven vaccine preventable diseases.

Salient Features:-

  • The Mission Indradhanush, depicting seven colours of the rainbow, aims to cover all those children by 2020 who are either unvaccinated, or are partially vaccinated against seven vaccine preventable diseases which include diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B.

LAQSHYA scheme

Objectives:-

  • aimed at improving quality of care in labour room and maternity operation theatre.

Salient Features:-

  1. The programme aims at implementing ‘fast-track’ interventions for achieving tangible results within 18 months.
  2. Under the initiative, a multipronged strategy has been adopted, including improving infrastructure upgradation, ensuring availability of essential equipment, providing adequate human resources, capacity building of healthcare workers and improving quality processes in the labour room.
  3. A healthcare facility achieving 70% score on NQAS will be declared ‘LaQshya’ certified. Facilities scoring over 90, 80 and 70% will get platinum, gold and silver badges respectively.
  4. Facilities achieving NQAS certification and having 80% satisfied beneficiaries will be given monetary incentive with medical college hospitals getting Rs 6 lakh and Rs 3 lakh for district hospitals.

National Health mission

Objectives:-

  • The broad objectives of this mission are as follows:
  • Reduce MMR to 1/1000 live births
  • Reduce IMR to 25/1000 live births
  • Reduce TFR (Total Fertility Rate ) to 2.1
  • Prevention and reduction of anaemia in women aged 15–49 years
  • Prevent and reduce mortality & morbidity from communicable, non-communicable; injuries and emerging diseases
  • Reduce household out-of-pocket expenditure on total health care expenditure
  • Reduce annual incidence and mortality from Tuberculosis by half
  • Reduce prevalence of Leprosy to <1/10000 population and incidence to zero in all districts
  • Annual Malaria Incidence to be <1/1000
  • Less than 1 per cent microfilaria prevalence in all districts
  • Kala-azar Elimination by 2015, <1 case per 10000 population in all blocks

  1. The National Health Mission (NHM) has two Sub-Missions : National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) covering urban areas; National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) covering rural areas

SARVA SHIKSHA ABHIYAAN

Objectives:-

  • Universalizing elementary education across the country

Salient Features:-

  1. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is implemented as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme in partnership with State Governments for universalizing elementary education across the country. Its overall goals include universal access and retention, bridging of gender and social category gaps in education and enhancement of learning levels of children.
  2. SSA provides for a variety of interventions, including inter alia, opening of new schools, construction of schools and additional classrooms, toilets and drinking water, provisioning for teachers, periodic teacher training and academic resource support, textbooks and support for learning achievement. These provisions are made in accordance with norms and standards and free entitlements as mandated by the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009.

Padhe Bharat Badhe Bharat

Salient Features:-

  1. The programme looks to improve the reading and writing skills of children in classes I and II, along with their mathematics skills.
  2. It is being implemented under the aegis of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.

The Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA)

Objectives:

  1. to raise the minimum level of education to class X and universalize access to secondary education;
  2. to ensure good-quality secondary education with focus on Science, Mathematics and English; and
  3. to reduce the gender, social and regional gaps in enrolments, dropouts and improving retention
  4. To make sure that the secondary schools conform to prescribed norms, removing gender, socio-economic and disability barriers, etc.

Salient Features:-

  1. Important physical facilities are provided which include,
  1. additional class rooms,
  2. laboratories,
  3. libraries,
  4. art and crafts room,
  5. toilet blocks,
  6. drinking water provisions,
  7. electricity / telephone/internet connectivity and
  8. disabled friendly provisions.

  1. It is the Indian electronic e-education platform which proposes to offer courses from the high school stage to Post-Graduate stage in an interactive electronic platform.

National Digital Library

  • The National Digital library of India (NDLI) is a project under Ministry of Human Resource Development, India. The objective is to integrate several national and international digital libraries in one single web-portal. The NDLI provides free access to many books in English and the Indian languages.

ShaGun

  1. It has two components i.e. one is a Repository of best practices, photographs, videos, studies, newspaper articles etc on elementary education, State /UT wise. These would be in the public domain with the purpose to provide a platform for all stakeholders to learn from success stories of each other. This would also instill a positive competitive spirit among all the States and UTs.
  2. The second part is regarding the online monitoring of the SSA implemented by States and UTs and will be accessed by Government Officers at all levels using their specific passwords.

Shala Asmita Yojana (SAY)

Salient Features:-

  1. To track the educational journey of school students from Class I to Class XII across the 15 lakhs private and government schools in the country.
  2. ASMITA will be an online database which will carry information of student attendance and enrolment, learning outcomes, mid-day meal service and infrasstructural facilities among others. Students will be tracked through their Aadhaar numbers and incase those not having unique number will be provided.

  1. Shaala Darpan is an ICT programme of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India that to provide mobile access to parents of students of Government and Government aided schools.
  2. Using Shaala Darpan parents can view updates on their child’s progress. They can view records of attendance, assignments and achievements of their child. The ministry aims to launch the service by 2015 academic session.
